“Sealer Selection Is Often About Color As Well As Protection When You Are Working With
Reactive Acid Chemical (RAC) Stain”

Too often the process for working with a customer in selecting the color of Decorative Concrete Engraving project has been:

  1. Have the customer pick colors from a color chart.
  2. Consider the environment, traffic level, and desired level of gloss then choose a sealer.
  3. Present the customer with a disclaimer suggesting you cannot be held accountable for the actual finished color since there is no way to predict the exact final color with RAC (Reactive Acid Chemical) Stains.

While it is true that each RAC stain has the potential to react differently with each piece of concrete, Engrave-A-Crete has attempted to reduce the guess work on the effect of the sealer with each stain by publishing the “Color Bible.”

The Engrave-A-Crete Color Bible displays the 8 RAC stains offered by Concrete Resurrection TM but most importantly it shows the stains at 4 levels of dilution and with the different effects that can be anticipated by; Inside Acrylic Sealers, Outside Acrylic Sealers, and Inside Epoxy Sealers.

We are recommending a change in the way a Decorative Concrete Engraving Specialist approaches color selection with a customer when it is determined that a RAC stain is being considered. The new process the Engrave-A-Crete system suggests is:

  1. Consider the environment, traffic level, and desired gloss, then choose a sealer.
  2. Choose color based on sealer choice.
  3. Present the customer with a disclaimer suggesting you cannot be held accountable for the actual finished color since there is no way to predict the final color with RAC (Reactive Acid Chemical) Stains.

Although the stain color disclaimer is still necessary, the fact is you will be far closer since the guesswork of anticipating the effects of sealers is reduced.
